Summary: The Receiving Lead position ensures that all stages of the inbound process are carried out in a productive and accurate manner. The role is responsible for managing the workflow of receiving vendor shipments under the direct supervision of the receiving manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies contained in the Lane Automotive employee handbook and of company processes/procedures.
  • Ensure vendor shipments are received accurately and efficiently to meet product supply expectations both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for overseeing receiving, labeling, packaging, staging/locating with accuracy, vendor shipments using warehouse software/equipment
  • Distribute and prioritize receiving tasks/assignments for department staff. Ensure diligent follow through on tasks associated with responsibilities of the inbound operations area.
  • Hold daily shift start-up staff meetings to clearly communicate daily plan including workload, job assignments and expectations.
  • Identify, document and track vendor errors, shortages, overages, and direct issues to Inventory Control, Purchasing, Posting Clerk and other departments to ensure proper and prompt resolution.
  • Log inbound freight volumes for planning and forecasting purposes.
  • Provide mentoring and coordinate training of new and current employees on proper process/procedures and changes to these.
  • Provide feedback to Receiving Manager on staff performance as part of performance review process.
  • Develop and document work flows and procedures to promote consistency and efficiencies.  
  • Assist other departments with tasks as dictated by volumes.
  • Other duties as assigned but not limited to the scope of the essential duties and responsibilities.


Education/Skills: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to use common computer applications and company warehouse management system (WMS).  Minimum of one year related experience.

Certificates, License, Registration: Ability to be licensed as a powered industrial truck operator. Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:  The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stoop, pull/push, stand, twist, bend and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee is frequently required to work extended time beyond an eight-hour shift/40-hour week including shift rotation and weekends.
