Technical Support Specialist

Location: 8300 Lane Drive, Watervliet

Hourly/Salary: Hourly - Competitive pay based on experience

Summary: The Technical Support Specialist is the first line of technical support defense, employing IT Best Practices and their broad knowledge of the Microsoft Windows infrastructure (both client and server).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide tier I and II support services to the Distribution Center user community.
  • Maintain and support hardware, software, and mobile ecosystems.
  • Monitor systems, conduct upgrades, apply patches, and break-fix activities.
  • Purchase supplies and software to support Information technology at Lane Automotive.
  • Successfully deliver systems to our personnel by configuring hardware, desktop optimization, and other various technical tasks.
  • Effectively build positive internal (user) and external (vendor) relationships which are reflective of our company's core values.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair equipment (may be required to work in awkward positions to facilitate certain hardware maintenance activities).
  • Self-allocate time and resources to activities which enhance the service(s) we provide to the organization.
  • Proactively seek to expand/evolve his/her skill-sets to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education/Skills: Associate's Degree in CS, IT, IS; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A proven track record for delivering results within a dynamic and collaborative team environment, and a minimum of 2-4 years of recent direct experience.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Windows OS architecture - client and server management including; Windows 7 - 10 Professional, XP PRO, Windows Server 2003-2012, and AD 2008/2012 (configuration and maintenance), GPO's, security and policy management, software deployment, updates, patches, and upgrades. (Preference given to MCP or MCTS Certification)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (2010 – 2012) – configuration, maintenance and deployment.
  • Microsoft Exchange 2012 (Office 365) – management, configuration and maintenance, along with security and policy management.
  • Mac/iOS Hardware and Software – configuration, maintenance and deployment.
  • Information and Systems Security – file and systems access permissions and configuration, hardware, software, and enterprise Anti-Virus/Malware.
  • Networking Expertise – TCP/IP configuration, maintenance and deployment within a LAN/WAN including; DNS/DHCP management, Wi-Fi and RF infrastructure maintenance.
  • Hardware and Storage - optimization and maintenance including; but not limited to PC and peripheral equipment including IBM, Dell, Cisco, Lexmark, HP, APC and Eaton. (Preference given to A+ Certification)


Preferred Technical Skills:

  • UNIX administration (AIX).
  • Hyper-V
  • Cisco (CCNA)
  • SCCM deployment

Physical Demands: The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stand, twist, bend, walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to work extended time beyond an eight-hour shift/40-hour week including shift rotation and weekends.
